Drawing update:

The eraser, I discovered too late, had been used in a charcoal drawing. The marks near the head are from that disaster. I spent some time trying to modify the line. I intend to detail the chain links in the mail at some point, but I wanted to show progress primarily in the line dynamics. 
I find that line work inevitably leads me to values: I love rendering shape with light and shadows, and I'm so eager to see these qualities emerge that I lose focus on the task at hand: line. 
I admit I need to practice more restraint. While I am pleased with some of the shapes, generally, I need to spend more time looking and perhaps copying great line artists, such as Michaelangelo, or da Vinci, or Van Gogh, or Kollwitz, or Rembrandt.
